Racquet Studios | Virtual Production
On the leadup to Wyntercon, Eastbourne's Comic Con, I teamed up with Racquet Studios to recreate The 6th Doctor's TARDIS.
Racquet Studios is a Virtual Production filming studio with the same setup you'd find in big productions like The Batman, Barbie, and The Mandalorian. Using tracking software and hardware in tandem with Unreal Engine, you can create a parallaxing scene for movie sets displayed on big curved screens.
As Wyntercon and Racquet Studios are in the same large building, they partnered up to allow guests to experience what it's like to be filmed on a Virtual Production set. The guests had a choice of 15 sets to display on the screen and record themselves in front of. My scene, The 6th Doctor's Tardis, was one of these scenes.
We also had Colin Baker, The 6th Doctor himself, attending the event as a VIP meet-and-great guest. Colin came up to the studio after Wyntercon had finished on the first day where he got to experience the VP stage himself with my recreation of his TARDIS in the background.
