Why Blog Posts?

The recent overhaul to my website portfolio is quite noticeable. Transitioning from webpages outlining projects to a blog posting system is quite a change. There are multiple reasons for this.

First, my writing skills.

It is no secret, I'm not the most skilled when it comes to writing. As a dyslexic, there are areas I struggle to keep up with. Whether it's mathematics, research, or writing tasks, I don't have the natural gift that few are lucky to have. Instead, I compensate for this by putting in more hours than what is expected, ensuring I refine my craft. This includes writing. I will always struggle with writing, but having this blog system allows me to practise more and more while keeping it relevant to what I enjoy, Game Development.

Secondly, formatting and consistency.

Anyone who has visited my website portfolio before likely noticed that each page had a slightly different layout. For me at very least, this created confusion and restrictions on what to write and where. Ultimately, I had to bite the bullet, realise what I had before was not good enough regardless of how much I worked on it, and start from fresh to create what I know is both better and something I can benefit from. It is easy to commit to something knowing it is not sufficient, I just needed to roll it back and start again.

Lastly, easier navigation!

Slugging through different pages with different links to find the one project that is relevant to what you have visited the website for is a chore. I know this because I have the exact same experience on my own website! The blogging plugin allows filters and search criteria, overall creating a better experience for both myself and you, the user!

What can you expect from this?

Going forth, I plan to make regular blog posts outlining different projects and experience in both my career and personal lives. This should give a better understanding of my skill set and who I am as a developer. Upcoming posts to look out for are my experience with Infinity27 as a freelance Game Designer, and my personal project 'Project Foundations'.

I appreciate anybody and everybody that takes a step into my portfolio, I hope I can leave a great impression!
